Experiences are more fun when you share them with others, and biking experiences are no exception. There's nothing like a biking buddy to get you motivated to ride, to tour, to race or just to shoot the breeze about bikes. And bikers are generally a gregarious lot, almost always eager to accept others into the "inner circle" of cycling so they can share their own experiences.
On-Line Forums
The internet is a wonderful tool for building communities of people who have the same ideas. You don't have to live next door any more to discover good friends with the same interests and abilities. There are dozens on on-line forums on bicycling, covering every topic you can imagine, and whatever your bicycling passion, you'll find kindred souls and a wealth of information on-line. Whether you're into restoring vintage Raleighs or want to spend your weekends randonneering, you're not alone.
Open Event Rides
It's just plain more fun to ride with others. People who share your passion for riding and your outlook on life. People who can hold up their part of a good conversation. There are lots of bikers out there who feel the same way, and are looking for riding partners just like you! Open event rides are a great way to find biking acquaintances and build long-lasting friendships based on your common interests. TAB (Toledo Area Bicyclists) holds several group rides each week and sponsors touring events throughout the season - you can find out more on their web site. And Bike to the Bay has become an enormous regional biking event, attracting hundreds of riders each year. Don't sit around waiting, get out there and meet someone!
